SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 22
WHEREAS, When they married many years ago, Lew Simmonds and
Pat Kowalik made a lifetime commitment to one another, and their
mutual trust has been amply rewarded, for they are celebrating
their 50th wedding anniversary on August 12, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Lew and Pat met and fell in love when they were
students at Southwest Texas State University; they were married
on August 12, 1967, at the historic Immaculate Conception of the
Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Panna Maria, Texas; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Simmonds had long and successful
careers in the Texas public school system, and over the years,
they greatly influenced the lives of many young Texans; and
WHEREAS, The devoted couple has been blessed with a
wonderful family; their three children and eight grandchildren
are a source of immense pride and joy; and
WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably in the years of
their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Simmonds continue to cherish the
traditional values and strong Christian faith that helped
inspire their bond long ago; the love they share is truly an
inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Lew and Pat
Simmonds on their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them
best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them
as a memento of this special day.
