SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 41 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Christene Holley Cooper and Charlene Holley Chesshir on the occasion of their 90th birthdays; and WHEREAS, Christene and Charlene Holley were born May 31, 1927, to Johnnie Vanlandingham and Cleburne Casey Holley; the family experienced some hard times when they were young, and, at the age of 12, the identical twins came to live at the Hendrick Home for Children in Abilene; and WHEREAS, Charlene married James Chesshir in 1946, and the couple raised five children; Christene was married the next year to the late Stewart Cooper, and they raised four children; together, they have been blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, They have lived through times and experienced events that most people only know about through history books, and there is much to be learned from the wisdom they have gained over the years; and WHEREAS, They recently came full circle to an important part of their lives when they celebrated their 90th birthday at the Hendrick Home for Children; Christene and Charlene are beloved members of their respective communities, and they are known for their ready laughter, their wise counsel, and their enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend congratulations to Christene Holley Cooper and Charlene Holley Chesshir on the occasion of their 90th birthdays; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
