                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 48
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the Edcouch-Elsa Rotary Club on the occasion of its
 50th anniversary; and
 WHEREAS, The Edcouch-Elsa Rotary Club was established in
 1967 by a group of citizens who were determined to give back to
 their community and who were committed to the Rotary International
 motto of "Service Above Self"; and
 WHEREAS, Through the years, the club has undertaken a wide
 range of projects to benefit the community, notably in the field
 of education; it has mounted annual drives to provide school
 supplies for area students, and it awards scholarships each year
 to deserving high school seniors; and
 WHEREAS, The club has helped hundreds of children acquire
 eyeglasses and provided numerous families with medical assistance;
 it organizes an Annual Christmas Parade and works in partnership
 with the City of Elsa to offer meals to area residents at
 Thanksgiving; and
 WHEREAS, For 50 years, the Edcouch-Elsa Rotary Club has
 played a vital role in making the community a better place in which
 to live, work, and raise a family, and it is truly fitting that this
 outstanding organization receive special recognition as it reaches
 this milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the members of
 the Edcouch-Elsa Rotary Club on their commitment to community
 service and extend to them best wishes for a memorable 50th
 anniversary celebration; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the club as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
