SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 59
In Memory
of
Noe Hernandez
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Weslaco in mourning the loss of Noe Hernandez, who made the
ultimate sacrifice for his country on June 17, 2017, at the age of
26; and
WHEREAS, Noe Hernandez was a graduate of Weslaco High
School, where he was a member of the Army Reserve Officers'
Training Corps; he went on to serve with distinction in the
United States Navy, and he died bravely in the line of duty while
stationed as a gunner's mate on the USS Fitzgerald; and
WHEREAS, This devoted sailor was admired throughout the
community for his kindness, his inexhaustible positivity, and
his commitment to the patriotic ideals that led him to serve his
country; and
WHEREAS, Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife,
Dora Hernandez; his son, Leon Hernandez; his mother, Virginia
Yolanda Hernandez Lozano; his sister, Mireya Hernandez Alvarez;
and a host of friends and loved ones who were privileged to share
in his life; and
WHEREAS, Noe Hernandez was a dedicated and courageous
sailor who represented the highest ideals of service on behalf of
his fellow citizens, and he will long be remembered with respect
and admiration by all who were privileged to share in his life;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences
to the bereaved family of Gunner's Mate 2nd Class Noe Hernandez;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
memory of Noe Hernandez.
