SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 62 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Linda Patterson, who is retiring after more than 30 years of outstanding service as a teacher with the Cotulla Independent School District; and WHEREAS, Linda Patterson came to the Cotulla Independent School District after completing her bachelor's degree at Our Lady of the Lake University in 1983; a longtime chemistry teacher at Cotulla High School, she returned to the university and earned a master's degree in 2011; and WHEREAS, Devoted to her work, Mrs. Patterson has assisted with a wide array of student activities over the years; she has taken students from different disciplines to University Interscholastic League competitions at the state level, and she sponsored a group of students whose petition for a tobacco-free campus led to a district-wide policy change; and WHEREAS, Her students have greatly benefited from her practical teaching methods, her encouragement, and her enthusiasm for sharing her love of science; she is the recipient of two Bell Awards and was named Teacher of the Year on multiple occasions; and WHEREAS, An exemplary educator, she is respected and admired by colleagues and students alike, and her presence at Cotulla High School will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Linda Patterson on her valuable contributions to the education of many generations of Cotulla students and extend to her best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
