 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to requiring regional education service centers to provide
 information to school district employees regarding health and
 retirement benefits and financial literacy.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 8, Education Code, is
 amended by adding Section 8.059 to read as follows:
 Sec. 8.059.  INFORMATION REGARDING EMPLOYEE BENEFITS. Each
 regional education service center, in cooperation with the Teacher
 Retirement System of Texas, shall annually collaborate with school
 districts in the center's region to:
 (1)  organize an educational workshop to provide
 information to district employees regarding:
 (A)  health benefits for district employees and
 retirees, including:
 (i)  benefits provided by each district; and
 (ii)  health benefit plans administered by
 the Teacher Retirement System of Texas;
 (B)  retirement benefits, including benefits
 provided by the Teacher Retirement System of Texas; and
 (C)  personal financial literacy regarding health
 care and retirement planning; and
 (2)  distribute the information described by
 Subdivision (1) to the district employees.
 SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
