A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to prohibiting the operation of the Loop 375 Border
Highway West Project as a toll project.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 228, Transportation Code,
is amended by adding Section 228.208 to read as follows:
Sec. 228.208. LOOP 375 BORDER HIGHWAY WEST PROJECT. (a)
The department may not operate, either directly or through an
agreement with another entity, any portion of the Loop 375 Border
Highway West Project in El Paso County from Race Track Drive to U.S.
Highway 54 as a toll project.
(b) The department shall maintain the highway described by
Subsection (a) as part of the state highway system without tolls.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
