A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the route designation for the issuance of a permit for
the movement of oversize and overweight vehicles in certain
counties.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 623.219, Transportation Code, is amended
by adding subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
(b-1) For a permit issued by a port authority contiguous to
the Gulf of Mexico or a bay or inlet opening into the gulf with a
population of not more than 200,000 that is adjacent to a county
described in subsection (b), the commission shall, with the consent
of the port authority, designate the most direct route from:
(1) the intersection of State Highway 35 and McCrosky
Road in Matagorda County to the entrance of the Port of Palacios
using State Highway 35; and
(2) the intersection of State Highway 60 and Chalmers
Road in Matagorda County to the entrance the Port of Palacios using
State Highway 60; and
(3) the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 521 and
Weathers Road in Matagorda County to the entrance of the Port of
Palacios using FM 521; and
(4) the intersection of State Highway 71 and Wind Road
in Matagorda County to the entrance of the Port of Palacios using
State Highway 71.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-third of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.
If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
