 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the personal use exemption for domestic rabbit meat.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 433.006, Health and Safety Code, is
 amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
 (d)  Notwithstanding Subsections (a)(1) and (c), this
 section grants a personal use exemption for an owner who gives or
 sells domestic rabbit carcasses, parts of carcasses, meat, or food
 products to any person, including a person not listed in Subsection
 (a)(1). The exemption is limited to giving or selling carcasses,
 parts of carcasses, meat, or food products derived from not more
 than 500 domestic rabbits in any calendar year.
 SECTION 2.  Not later than September 1, 2020, the executive
 commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission shall
 adopt rules to implement Section 433.006(d), Health and Safety
 Code, as added by this Act.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
