A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to allowing the Bastrop County Commissioners Court to
charge interest on assessments for certain county improvements of
subdivision roads.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 253.008, Transportation Code, is amended
by amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (e) to read as
follows:
(b) Except as provided by Subsection (d) or (e), the
commissioners court may not require the payment of interest on an
assessment.
(e) The Commissioners Court of Bastrop County may require
the payment of interest on an assessment at the rate determined
under Section 304.003, Finance Code.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
