A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to timely public inspection of early voting rosters.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 81.121, subsections (g) and (h),
Election Code, are amended to read as follows:
(g) Information on the roster for a person who votes an
early voting ballot by personal appearance shall be made available
for public inspection not later than [the beginning of regular
business hours] 11 a.m. on the day after the date the information is
entered on the roster under Subsection (c).
(h) Information on the roster for a person who votes an
early voting ballot by mail shall be made available for public
inspection not later than 11 a.m. on the day following the day the
early voting clerk receives a ballot voted by mail.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.
If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
