No. 1304 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Laci Kaye Booth of Livingston has won a place among the Top 10 finalists of Season 17 of American Idol, and this success represents a significant milestone in the promising career of this talented young Texan; and WHEREAS, The daughter of Priscilla and Ben Cockrell and Jody Booth, Laci Booth grew up surrounded by musicians; she was singing at the age of three, and she began playing the guitar and writing her own song lyrics at the age of eight; over the years, she has performed for her family, her friends, and her church, as well as at local events; and WHEREAS, Ms. Booth is inspired by such singers as Stevie Nicks, Miranda Lambert, and Patsy Cline, and she has dreamed since childhood of appearing on American Idol; a gifted country-soul singer, she has impressed the show's viewers and judges with her renditions of Cheap Trick's "I Want You to Want Me," Blink-182's "I Miss You," and Fleetwood Mac's "As Long as You Follow"; and WHEREAS, With her talent and charm, Laci Booth has won the hearts of millions of television viewers across the nation, and she stands on the threshold of what promises to be a bright and rewarding future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Laci Kaye Booth on her selection as a Top 10 finalist on American Idol and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Booth as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
