R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The observance of International Internal Audit
Awareness Month in May 2019 provides an opportunity to recognize
the many ways in which internal auditors help businesses,
organizations, and government agencies accomplish their goals and
fulfill their missions; and
WHEREAS, Committed to objectivity and independence, internal
auditors establish and enforce high standards for efficiency,
effectiveness, and ethics; they use a systematic, disciplined
approach to ensure that policies, procedures, and controls are in
place and working appropriately; and
WHEREAS, Employing a risk-based approach, internal auditors
review and monitor an organization's processes and activities in
order to protect assets and information; they detect and prevent
fraud, security breaches, noncompliance, and inefficiencies that
could imperil operations; and
WHEREAS, Internal auditing is becoming an increasingly
sophisticated field, requiring specialized knowledge, training,
and education, and the Institute of Internal Auditors maintains a
globally recognized code of ethics and standards to guide
professionals; and
WHEREAS, The work of internal auditors strengthens
organizations and ensures that they are accountable to their
stakeholders, whether those stakeholders are investors or the
general public, and it is indeed fitting to recognize the crucial
role they play; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas
Legislature hereby recognize May 2019 as International Internal
Audit Awareness Month.
