SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 238
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Grandview High School Zebras varsity football
team, which recently won the Class 3A Division I state
championship title; and
WHEREAS, The Grandview Zebras were victorious in their
first appearance at the state finals, defeating the Malakoff
Tigers by a score of 35-21 in a hard-fought game on December 20,
2018; and
WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great
talent and perseverance throughout the school year, and team
members can take pride in their outstanding performance; and
WHEREAS, With the exceptional guidance of head coach Brad
Davis and assistant coach Ryan Ebner and the additional
leadership and support of team captains Brody Smith and Garrett
Phelps, the Zebras have developed exceptional teamwork and
discipline; and
WHEREAS, Grandview High School and the City of Grandview
are proud of the Zebras for their hard work, their impressive
skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
Legislature, hereby commend the Grandview High School Zebras
varsity football team on their successful season and
congratulate them on winning the Class 3A Division I state
championship; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
