SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 451
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the annual Covington Volunteer Fire Department BBQ
Cook-off; and
WHEREAS, The Covington Volunteer Fire Department BBQ
Cook-off is held the first weekend of May at the Covington
Volunteer Fire Station and attracts participants from across the
region; and
WHEREAS, This highly anticipated annual event is sponsored
by the Covington Volunteer Fire Department and is sanctioned by
the International Barbeque Cookers Association as one of the
organization's annual state cook-offs; and
WHEREAS, Proceeds from the competition benefit the
Covington Volunteer Fire Department and provide for training,
protective equipment, and equipment maintenance, all of which
allow fire department members to better serve the community; and
WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their affinity for barbecue
and for their competitive spirit, and the Covington Volunteer
Fire Department BBQ Cook-off provides visitors with the
opportunity to sample the wares of some of the best chefs in the
state; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
Legislature, hereby commend the sponsors of and the participants
in the annual Covington Volunteer Fire Department BBQ Cook-off on
their hard work and dedication and extend to them best wishes for
a successful event; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this special event.
