SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 788
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Cruz Montemayor, who is retiring as deputy executive
director of the Texas Veterans Commission after nearly 20 years
of outstanding service with the organization; and
WHEREAS, Cruz Montemayor joined the Texas Veterans
Commission in 1999 after a career in the United States Army as an
officer in the Adjutant General's Corps; he is the recipient of the
7th Army Noncommissioned Officer Academy Distinguished Graduate
Award, and his decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal,
the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the
Army Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster; and
WHEREAS, He has held multiple leadership positions over
the course of his career with the commission, including those of
information and training coordinator, director of Human
Resources, and chief administrative officer; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Montemayor is a graduate of the Lyndon B.
Johnson School of Public Affairs Governor's Executive
Development Program and a 2016 Fellow of the Center for Public
Policy Dispute Resolution at The University of Texas; he has been
active in a number of professional organizations, including the
National Association of State Directors of Veterans Affairs; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, he is respected and
admired by his colleagues, and his leadership at the Texas
Veterans Commission will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
Legislature, hereby commend Cruz Montemayor on his
exceptional service to the Texas Veterans Commission and
extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his
endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
