A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the authority of certain municipal utility districts
to select the municipality that will have authority over the
district.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 54.0163, Water Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
(e) A district may not change a selection made under this
section without the consent of all affected municipalities.
SECTION 2. Section 54.0163(e), Water Code, as added by this
Act, applies to a selection of municipal authority made by a
municipal utility district under Section 54.0163, Water Code,
regardless of the date the selection was made.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
