The bill would add additional definitions to the Health and Safety Code and would prohibit a health care provider from determining an individual as ineligible for medical services related to an organ transplant on the basis of a disability. The bill would allow disciplinary action by the regulatory agency that issued a license, certificate, or other authority to a health care provider who commits the violation.The Health and Human Services Commission and the Texas Medical Board have indicated any costs related to rulemaking and possible increases in complaints and investigations would be minimal and can be absorbed within available resources.
