The bill would amend Family Code to require the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to inform the alleged perpetrator that they may record the interview and the recording may be subject to subpoena. In addition, the bill would require DFPS to document the notice. It is assumed that the provisions of the bill relating to notifying an alleged perpetrator of child abuse or neglect of the person's right to record an investigative interview could be absorbed using existing resources.The bill would take effect September 1, 2021.
