Frank, Chair, House Committee on Human Services     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB1629 by Guerra (Relating to improvements to the Texas Medicaid Provider Procedures Manual designed to prevent fraud, waste, or abuse in the provision of Medicaid dental services.), As Introduced     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would require the executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to establish a work group to provide recommendations to improve the Texas Medicaid Procedures Manual that prevents the incidence of fraud, waste or abuse in Medicaid dental services. The work group would be required to submit a report on the work group's recommendations to the executive commissioner of HHSC no later than December 31, 2022.It is assumed any cost to implement provisions of the bill would be minimal and could be absorbed within available resources.
