The bill would amend Chapter 401 of the Occupations Code to enact an audiology and speech-language pathology interstate compact to facilitate the interstate practice of audiology and speech-language pathology. To exercise the compact privilege, the bill would require an audiologist or speech-language pathologist to hold an active license in the home state and meet certain requirements, including payment of any applicable fees. The bill would authorize the compact member states to create and establish the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Compact Commission (commission). The commission would be authorized to collect an annual assessment from each member state or impose fees on other parties to cover the cost of the operations and activities of the commission and its staff.
