                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             May 12, 2021       TO: Honorable Robert Nichols, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB1693 by Shaheen (Relating to access to the financial responsibility verification program by justice and municipal courts.), As Engrossed     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend the Transportation Code to provide that a justice or municipal court may access the Financial Responsibility Verification Program to verify financial responsibility for court proceedings. The bill would provide that costs associated with accessing the Program, will be paid out of the county treasury or municipal treasury, as applicable. Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated as a result from implementing the provisions of the bill.  Local Government ImpactThe Texas Association of Counties does not anticipate a significant fiscal impact on counties.
