                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             March 15, 2021       TO: Honorable Jeff Leach, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB1737 by Moody (Relating to the reporting of depositions by court reporters and the deposition transcripts.), As Introduced     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend the Government Code to establish that a person who is deposed in a lawsuit, the attorneys of record, and the parties to the lawsuit are entitled to obtain a copy of the deposition subject to the payment of a reasonable fee to the court reporter or the court reporting firm which reports the deposition. The bill would also, under certain circumstances, allow a person who is not certified as a court reporter to report a deposition if a certified reporter is not available.  Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated as a result from implementing the provisions of the bill.
