The agency indicates that the costs associated with the grant program this bill would establish are covered through currently existing grant funding. According to the Department of Criminal Justice, no fiscal impact is anticipated from the provisions of this bill. Local Government ImpactThe Texas Association of Counties estimates there may be a positive fiscal impact on counties from the bill's provisions. However, since the amount of funding that will be made available for grants is unknown, it is not possible to determine the extent of that impact at this time.
