                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             April 7, 2021       TO: Honorable Ken King, Chair, House Committee on Culture, Recreation & Tourism     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB2040 by Gervin-Hawkins (Relating to special open season hunting of certain migratory game birds by veterans and members of the United States armed forces on active duty.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend the Parks and Wildlife Code to allow the Parks and Wildlife Commission to create a special open hunting season of certain migratory game birds for veterans and active duty members of the military. Based on information provided by the Parks and Wildlife Department, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished utilizing existing resources.The bill would take effect immediately upon receiving a two-thirds majority vote in both houses; otherwise the bill would take effect on September 1, 2021.  Local Government ImpactNo significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
