The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure as it relates to forfeiture of contraband. Under the provisions of the bill, the definition of contraband would be amended to include property used in the commission of the offense of racing on a highway.The Office of Court Administration and the Department of Public Safety indicate the modifications outlined in the bill's provisions would not result in a significant fiscal impact. The Comptroller of Public Accounts indicates expanding the definition of contraband could result in an increase in revenue, which may be deposited to the state treasury, however the impact to state revenue cannot be estimated.
