The bill would amend Chapter 6 of the Tax Code, regarding local property tax administration, to provide requirements for selecting members of an appraisal district's board of directors in counties with a population of 120,000 or more. The bill would require the governing body of each taxing unit entitled to cast at least five percent of the total votes to determine its vote on members of the appraisal district board of directors by resolution. The bill would provide the governing body must submit its vote to the chief appraiser not later than the third day following adoption of the resolution.The bill would take effect September 1, 2021.
