A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the prioritization for the delivery of electric utility
services in an emergency to certain housing facilities operated by
municipal housing authorities.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 392, Local Government
Code, is amended by adding Section 392.068 to read as follows:
Sec. 392.068. PRIORITY FOR DELIVERY OF ELECTRIC UTILITY
SERVICES IN EMERGENCY. A municipal housing authority, in
cooperation with the municipality in which the authority is located
and with any electric utility, municipally owned utility, or
electric cooperative that provides power to housing facilities
operated by the authority, shall prioritize in an emergency the
provision of electric utility services to each housing facility
that is operated by the authority and that has residents that are
elderly or disabled individuals.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
