                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             March 28, 2021       TO: Honorable Victoria Neave, Chair, House Committee on Juvenile Justice & Family Issues     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB2772 by Campos (Relating to the definitions of family violence and household member for purposes of crime victims' compensation.), As Introduced     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill amends the Code of Criminal Procedure, Article 56B.003 by updating the definition of "family violence" to that provided in Section 71.004 of the Family Code. The bill also changes the definition of "household" by removing the requirement that a household member must be related to the victim by consanguinity or affinity.It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.  Local Government ImpactNo significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
