                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             March 31, 2021       TO: Honorable Philip Cortez, Chair, House Committee on Urban Affairs     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB2893 by Herrero (Relating to the establishment by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs of colonia self-help centers in certain counties and to the representation of those counties on the Colonia Resident Advisory Committee.), As Introduced     No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend the Government Code relating to the establishment of colonia self-help centers and the representation of counties on the Colonia Resident Advisory Committee. Based on information provided by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, this analysis anticipates no fiscal implications to the State.  Local Government ImpactNueces County reports it would use existing facilities to house the Colonias Self-Help Center authorized by the bill; however, the county indicates it would need three staff to operate the center, with estimated salary and benefit costs totaling $116,600 per year.
