                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             March 29, 2021       TO: Honorable Jeff Leach, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB3221 by Leach (Relating to the accrual of a cause of action for purposes of certain laws governing certain construction liability claims.), As Introduced     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend the Government Code to provide that, for the purposes of Chapter 2272, which relates to certain construction liability claims, a cause of action accrues on the date the report required by Government Code Section 2272.003 is postmarked by the US Postal Service and for all other purposes the date of accrual is unaffected by the new section.Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated as a result from implementing the provisions of the bill.
