The bill would require certain licensed facilities to establish a workplace violence prevention committee or authorize an existing facility committee to develop, implement, and enforce the workplace violence prevention plan. If a certain facility experienced an incident of workplace violence, a facility would be required to at minimum offer immediate post-incident services, including any necessary acute medical treatment for each health care provider or employee of the facility who is directly involved in the incident. The bill would allow an appropriate licensing agency to take disciplinary action against a person who violates the provisions of the bill. The Health and Human Services Commission indicates any cost to implement provisions of the bill would be minimal and can be absorbed within available resources.
