This bill would amend the Election Code to direct the Secretary of State (SOS) to establish a pilot program relating to video recording of ballot counting activities. The bill would require the SOS to select six counties to take part in this program program. The bill specifies that the program would operate until January 31, 2023 and would require the SOS to file a report with the Legislature.According to the SOS, assuming the agency would not be responsible for purchasing any software or hardware for the pilot program, no significant fiscal implications from the bill is anticipated.
