The bill would amend the Transportation Code to authorize the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to purchase cybersecurity insurance coverage that the department considers necessary to protect against liability, revenue, and property losses that may result from a data breach or cyber attack.Based on the information provided by TxDOT, it is assumed the costs of a cybersecurity insurance policy that may be purchased by the department under the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.
