Dutton, Jr., Chair, House Committee on Public Education     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB3485 by Goodwin (Relating to information reported through the Public Education Information Management System and to parents regarding disciplinary measures used by a school district or open-enrollment charter school.), As Introduced     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would require that each local education agency (LEA) report certain data related to disciplinary measures to the Texas Education Agency. TEA would be required to publish aggregated data based in a report and each LEA would be required to provide the report to parents and on its web site. This analysis assumes that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.  Local Government ImpactLEAs could see some increased costs associated with increased reporting requirements and with providing parents with copies of the report.
