The bill would amend the Agriculture Code to replace all instances of the term Hog Cholera with Classical Swine Fever and allow agents of the Animal Health Commission to vaccinate, inoculate, or treat hogs with Classical Swine Fever. It would also allow the commission, by a two-thirds votes, to set treatment standards for Classical Swine Fever that are more stringent than the minimum standards adopted by the United States Department of Agriculture.Based on information provided by the Animal Health Commission, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished utilizing existing resources.
