A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to prohibiting tolls on certain segments of State Highway
146.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 228, Transportation Code,
is amended by adding Section 228.060 to read as follows:
Sec. 228.060. PROHIBITION OF TOLLS ON CERTAIN SEGMENTS OF
STATE HIGHWAY 146. The department may not charge a toll, either
directly or indirectly through an agreement with another entity, on
a segment of State Highway 146 that:
(1) is located within Harris County;
(2) between State Highway 225 and State Highway 146; and
(3) contains the Fred Hartman Bridge.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
