                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             May 1, 2021       TO: Honorable Larry Taylor, Chair, Senate Committee on Education     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: HB725 by Patterson (Relating to the eligibility of certain children who are or were in foster care for free prekindergarten programs in public schools.), As Engrossed     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. It is assumed that the costs associated with the bill's provisions relating to  the eligibility of certain children who are or were in foster care for free prekindergarten programs in public schools could be absorbed using existing resources.  While the bill's provisions would potentially increase the number of eligible students for prekindergarten, the number of students is not anticipated to large enough to have a significant fiscal impact to the Foundation School Program.  Local Government ImpactImplementing the bill's provisions would increase data collection requirements for school districts and charter schools.
