It is assumed that costs at the Department of Public Safety associated with the bill's provisions relating to the eligibility for a license to carry a handgun could be absorbed using existing resources.The Comptroller of Public Accounts indicates that the number of persons seeking an application for a license to carry in compliance with prospective law is unknown. Therefore, the fiscal implications of the bill for fee revenue stemming from any increase in applications for a license to carry cannot be determined.This analysis assumes implementing the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources.  Local Government ImpactNo fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
