The bill would amend the Occupations Code to prohibit a municipality from charging a registration fee to certain air conditioning and refrigeration contractors.   Local Government ImpactThe City of Plano anticipates a cost of $20,000 annually in lost registration fee revenue. The City of Houston anticipates a cost of $650,000 in fiscal year 2022 in lost registration fee revenue. The city anticipates that cost to increase by an additional $10,000 each subsequent fiscal year through fiscal year 2026 due to projected growth in these registrations.
