The bill would amend the Election Code to allow an election worker to copy documentation presented by a voter for identification purposes and to photograph the face of the voter if the worker questions the authenticity of the voter's documentation. The bill would provide that information copied or photographed is confidential except for use in a criminal investigation or prosecution or a civil court proceeding, and all such collected information must be provided to the Secretary of State for election-related purposes.The Secretary of State indicates that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.
