No. 1007 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Jakob Jones has been named salutatorian of the Class of 2021 at Fort Bend Christian Academy in Sugar Land, and he indeed merits special recognition for receiving this significant honor; and WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the highest academic standards; in securing his place as one of the two top-ranking students in his class, Mr. Jones demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of subjects, and his attainment of this coveted distinction is the crowning achievement of a notable high school career; and WHEREAS, The son of Jason Jones and Karen Marques, Mr. Jones has received various accolades over the years, including a National Merit Commended Student award, academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Program, and selection as the junior escort for the school's 2020 graduation; this well-rounded student has also participated in cross-country, track, baseball, and football, was a member of the Thespian Society and the Computer Club, and placed first in the 2018 Eric "Malz" Malzkuhn ASL Literature Competition; active in his community, he started a food drive during the COVID-19 pandemic, and he has volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and usher at Sugar Creek Baptist Church and taken part in service opportunities in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica; following his graduation, he plans to study engineering at Texas A&M University; and WHEREAS, During his years at Fort Bend Christian Academy, Jakob Jones has earned the respect and admiration of both his teachers and classmates, and his exceptional scholastic ability and commitment to excellence have opened the way to a bright and promising future for this outstanding young Texan; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Jakob Jones on graduating as salutatorian of the Fort Bend Christian Academy Class of 2021 and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success as he begins the next exciting chapter of his life; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Jones as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
