R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sharing Life, a charitable organization that
benefits families in need in southeastern Dallas, Rockwall, and
Kaufman Counties, is hosting its UNgala fundraising event on August
26, 2021; and
WHEREAS, The organization provides compassionate support in
the form of food, utility, rent, and mortgage assistance, as well as
by offering education, training, and employment programs to job
seekers; demand for these resources has been especially high due to
the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and Sharing Life has adapted to
the unique challenges of this public health crisis by introducing
grocery delivery to its array of services, helping to fulfill a
critical need for families that have been forced to quarantine
because of exposure to the virus; and
WHEREAS, Sharing Life's UNgala is an online event that is
being held in place of the organization's gala, its largest annual
fundraiser; last year's generous donors helped the group to
distribute more than nine million meals to hungry residents and
cover the cost of over $1.5 million in utility bills, rent payments,
and mortgages; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of its existence, Sharing Life has
had an immeasurable impact in the lives of many Texans, and the
funds raised through its UNgala will go a long way toward advancing
the organization's altruistic mission; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Sharing Life on the occasion of its 2021
UNgala and extend to all those affiliated with the group sincere
best wishes for a successful event; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Sharing Life as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
