No. 1649 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The members of the Amistad Eagle All-Stars Purple Reign cheer team reached the pinnacle of success by winning the national championship at the 2021 D2 Summit, held May 13 to 15 in Orlando, Florida; and WHEREAS, The AEA Purple Reign began their march to the title by earning the highest score among the Division 2 Level 3 teams at a virtual competition held earlier in the season and receiving the wild card bid to the D2 Summit; in addition, the squad brought home first place at the American Cheer Power Competition in Galveston; and WHEREAS, Joining the other top squads from across the country for the D2 Summit, the Purple Reign turned in an exceptional performance, recording a raw score of 96.3 with zero deductions; when the final tallies were made, the AEA athletes edged out their closest competitor by 0.35 points to win the championship; and WHEREAS, In earning their national title, the Purple Reign received valuable contributions from each member of the roster: Addie Weston, Ale Lugo, Alexa Leon, Aly Guzman, Alyssa Martinez, Amaris Leon, Andrea Fernandez, Andrea Padilla, Isabella Gonzales, Katelynn Yancy, Kayla Arreola, Leanna Galindo, Lexa Acosta, Lexi Bernal, Maritza McNeal, Mia Hernandez, Mia Cruz, Paityn Mashburn, Paula Garza, Rylee Robinson, Sofia Mireles, Isaac Rosas, and Ray Calo; these dedicated competitors were ably guided by head coach DeeAnn Reavis and assistant coaches Haylee Reavis, Andie Perez, and Karina Galindo; and WHEREAS, Through their hard work, exceptional skill, and enduring commitment to excellence, the members of the AEA Purple Reign have proven themselves the best D2 cheer team in the nation, and they will treasure the memory of this momentous accomplishment for many years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Amistad Eagle All-Stars Purple Reign on winning the 2021 D2 Summit National Championship and extend to the cheerleaders, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
