No. 2031 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The strength and cohesion of our communities are enhanced by the devoted efforts of individuals such as Kelly Flading, who has contributed immeasurably to the quality of life in Killeen and beyond; and WHEREAS, The cofounder and board secretary of Killeen Creators, Ms. Flading has helped advance the organization's mission of addressing food insecurity, post-traumatic stress disorder, and voter disenfranchisement; she has also taken an active role in local politics, holding leadership positions with the Bell County Democratic Party and the Killeen Democrats; other groups that have benefited from her efforts include Mats for the Homeless, the Killeen Civic Art Guild, and the Youth Backyard Gardening Initiative; and WHEREAS, Born in Rosepine, Louisiana, in 1967, Ms. Flading graduated as valedictorian of the Rosepine High School Class of 1985 and continued her education at Fayetteville Technical Community College; she later studied math and computer information systems at Texas A&M University-Central Texas and graduated from Tarleton State University in 2009; and WHEREAS, Answering her nation's call to duty, Ms. Flading served in the U.S. Army from 1987 to 1999, and she further contributed to the military through her involvement with the Fort Hood Chapters of the USO and the Association of the United States Army; in the course of a successful career with Walmart, she has served as their community involvement coordinator and overseen their Children's Miracle Network program; and WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Flading has enjoyed the love and support of her husband, fellow army veteran Brian Flading; and WHEREAS, Kelly Flading has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to making Killeen a better place for all, and in so doing, she has earned the lasting respect and admiration of her fellow residents; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas Legislature hereby honor Kelly Flading for her legacy of service to her community and extend to her sincere appreciation for her many contributions to the greater good; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Flading as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
