                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD     Austin, Texas       FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION             March 23, 2021       TO: Honorable Brandon Creighton, Chair, Senate Committee on Higher Education     FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board      IN RE: SB1094 by Creighton (Relating to the payment of apprenticeship education expenses using the state's programs for paying, prepaying, or saving toward the costs of attending an institution of higher education.), As Introduced     No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend Chapter 54 of the Education Code to expand the Prepaid Higher Education Tuition Program to allow tuition units to pay for education expenses for apprenticeship program expenses.Based on the analysis provided by the Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Comptroller of Public Accounts, it is assumed that the costs associated with the provisions of the bill relating to the payment of apprenticeship education expenses using a prepaid tuition contract could be absorbed using existing resources.  Local Government ImpactNo fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
