A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to access by an institution of higher education to the
TexShare library consortium.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter M, Chapter 441, Government Code, is
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 441.221. DEFINITION. In this subchapter:
(1) "Commission" means the Texas State Library
and Archives Commission.
(2) "Institution of higher education" includes
an institution of higher education as defined by Section 61.003,
Education Code, and a private or independent institution of higher
education as defined by Section 61.003, Education Code[.], and a
work college, as that term is defined by 20 U.S.C. Section 1087-58;
(3) "Nonprofit corporation" means a nonprofit
corporation established under the Texas Non-Profit Corporation Act
(Article 1396-1.01 et seq., Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes) that
provides extensive library services and collections in the fields
of clinical medicine and the history of medicine.
(4) "Public library" has the meaning assigned by
Section 441.122.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
