LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION May 4, 2021 TO: Honorable Robert Nichols, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation FROM: Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE: SB2243 by Hinojosa (Relating to approval for certain projects related to bridges over the Rio Grande.), As Introduced No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend Transportation Code 201.612, regarding a state review process and Transportation Commission approval requirement for construction of a bridge over the Rio Grande, and provide an exemption from the requirements for a political subdivision if the political subdivision has received an amendment to an approval from the United States, authorizing the project and the project is adjacent to an existing bridge previously approved by the United States and the Transportation Commission. Based on the analysis provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), it is assumed implementation of the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to TxDOT or the State.
