The bill would amend the Local Government Code to require a municipality or county to hold an election to approve a reduction or reallocation of funding or resources for a municipal or county law enforcement agency.  Local Government ImpactCameron County anticipates a cost of $653,000 per election if a budget were passed that triggered an election required by the bill. Travis County anticipates a negative impact which cannot be calculated, especially because it could have a multi-year impact on the tax rate.The Justices of the Peace and Constables Association anticipates no significant fiscal impact.
