The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to require a court to notify a defendant or individual charged where the court is storing toxicological evidence for that offense that the applicable period for retention and preservation of the evidence has expired if the court has not previously delivered notice of the retention period for the toxicological evidence. Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated as a result from implementing the provisions of the bill.
